This month at Jamones Aljomar we received a very special visit... Do you remember the trip we took to our Vera Vieja estate in Badajoz? The farm where our wonderful pigs are raised, pigs that will later become those rich and delicious hams and Iberian products, crafted by Aljomar's master ham makers. Well, they returned the visit here in Guijuelo. It all began with a warm welcome from Mr. Alfonso and Mrs. Carmen, who emphasized to everyone present the importance of feeling at home and proud to be part of this great company. 
As if it were a school field trip, they explained each and every step of the process and production of Aljomar's delicious products: from when the pig leaves Vera Vieja until it arrives at the ham drying sheds, where some of them will rest for almost three years. Amazing, right? We toured all parts of our factory in Guijuelo: the slaughterhouse, the cutting room, the drying and curing cellars, the administration, quality control, and management offices. It's truly astonishing to see all the work that goes into caring for and producing one of the most prized products of our gastronomy. 
And as is tradition at Aljomar, after the trip and the training day visiting the factory, there were plenty of surprises. We enjoyed a delicious meal and celebrated the birthday of our founder, Carmen Sanchez, who arrived at the event under the mistaken impression that she was only going to eat with her colleagues from VeraVieja... but all the employees of the Aljomar Group were there to accompany her on such a special day. The well-known actor Miguelón entertained us with some monologues before we moved on to the other big surprise that Aljomar's management had organized. In addition, another group of factory workers received a well-deserved tribute for their years of dedication to the company, some for more than 15 years. And the surprise wasn't just the plaque or public recognition; they even had the unexpected visit of their families, who were invited to witness the moment and share in our joy. Just another example of the recognition that Aljomar employees are receiving during this very special year of 2017. After lunch, Mr. Alfonso reminded us once again of the importance, pride, and excitement of belonging to this great family business, the Aljomar family. What will the next trip be??? Ah, surprise!!! Yet another experience that perfectly illustrates what Aljomar is: a great family
