Each piece weighs approximately 8 kg and comes from Iberian pigs fed exclusively on natural acorns.

Breeding

Our Iberian acorn-fed ham comes from animals raised free-range on our farms, fed on natural resources from the pastureland and acorns so that the product has a unique flavor, texture and aroma.

Race

This product comes from Iberian pigs .

Animal welfare

At Aljomar, we hold the Welfair animal welfare certificate . This certificate guarantees animal welfare throughout our entire production process, from the raising of Iberian pigs on our farms to the processes in our factory, ensuring the use of good practices throughout the food chain.

Conservation

To preserve Iberian ham optimally, the following recommendations should be followed:

1. If the ham is vacuum-packed or wrapped in any type of material that obstructs the passage of air, it must be unwrapped so that the piece can be in contact with the air and breathe.

2. It is essential that Iberian ham be stored in a cool, dry place , away from direct sunlight. Places where sudden temperature changes can occur, such as kitchens, are not recommended; cellars or storage rooms are much more suitable.

3. Storage method : the most appropriate way is to hang it entirely from a ring or a string so that the air reaches all corners of the piece as homogeneously as possible.

4. If your intention is to refrain from consuming this piece of Iberian ham for a considerable period of time , it is best to wipe the piece every two weeks with a cloth coated in oil, gently spreading it over the entire leg.

5. Another of the best known and traditionally used methods for optimal preservation is to cover the ham once opened with some slices of the side bacon (slices that must have been previously stored).
