If you follow our blog, you probably already know Aerscyl, the Association of Rare Diseases of Castilla y León, which we support whenever we can, both in its annual calendar and in its charity gala.
And now they'll make us run too. This Sunday, January 22nd, Salamanca will turn yellow for the first Yellow Tide in support of the organization, a popular race open to all kinds of runners, whether affiliated with a federation or not, regardless of category, sex, place of origin, or social status, as long as they are over 17 years old. With each race number, you will receive a yellow t-shirt and a pair of yellow gloves!
The race was launched a few days ago, and the outpouring of support has been so overwhelming that all the race bibs sold out in just a few hours. But if you can't run, you can still come and support the initiative and the runners. Here's more information:
It will be held on January 22, 2017, starting and finishing on Abraham Zacut Street.
At around 10:15 there will be a fun warm-up offered by Enjoy Wellness.
The competitive race will cover a distance of 7500 m. The start will be at 11:00 am. The maximum time allowed for the race will be 80 minutes, with the finish line closing at 12:20 pm.
At 12:30 the 1000 meter race will start, which will be participatory and non-competitive.
At the start of the competitive race, and as a gesture of support for the association, runners will be asked to raise their hands for a photo where yellow (the color representing rare diseases) predominates.
At Jamones Aljomar we are joining this initiative by sponsoring the event, both financially and through the delivery of product packages that will be given to the winners.
Congratulations to Atletismo Salmantino and Aerscyl for the initiative. Let's hope it's repeated with more places and greater success.
