Vitartis Assembly 2025: Innovation, cooperation and the future of the food sector

Vitartis General Assembly 2025

On Tuesday, March 25th, the Food Industry Association of Castile and León ( Vitartis ), of which Jamones Aljomar has been a member since 2014, will hold its General Assembly in an exceptional setting: the facilities of our member Bodegas Fariña , in Toro, Zamora (Tordesillas Road, KM 32.200). It will be a very special day to foster networking, cooperation, and innovation among all members.

The day will begin with a welcome address by Manuel Fariña, CEO of Bodegas Fariña, and Santiago Miguel, President of Vitartis. We will also have the honor of the presence of Antonio Espasa, Managing Director and Chief Economist for Europe at Grupo Santander, who will share his perspective on the European economic landscape and how Spain continues to lead growth.

Next, we'll enjoy a segment dedicated to getting to know five of our partners better: Golydul, Moreno Sáez, Tabladillo, and Terrabuey. This is an excellent opportunity to discover their innovations, challenges, and contributions to the food sector.

The Assembly will also include a presentation on one of the most relevant topics today : "Cyber Risks and emerging technologies", given by Borja Sánchez Fraile, Senior Manager at Marsh, who will provide us with practical keys to anticipate and adapt to these challenges.

The event will offer ample opportunities for networking, exchanging ideas, and, of course, surprises for attendees. We'll conclude with a luncheon, the perfect opportunity to further strengthen professional connections.

Strategic alliances for small businesses

This meeting comes just weeks after the Vitartis Board of Directors held at Campofrío Frescos in Burgos. At this meeting, Santiago Miguel, president of the association, encouraged smaller companies to establish strategic alliances to increase their size, innovation, and competitiveness, highlighting the importance of the food sector as a key economic driver in Castile and León.

At the meeting, Santiago Miguel highlighted the robust health of the food industry in Castile and León, reflected in a 40% increase in employment over the past ten years, currently employing more than 50,000 people. He also emphasized the reduction in companies with no employees and the significant increase in SMEs and micro-enterprises, stressing the importance of continuing to focus on integration and strategic growth within the sector.

The president of Vitartis also noted that one of the Association's key objectives is to promote the resizing of the agri-food industries to meet current and future challenges, with a particular focus on supporting medium-sized companies with the aim of creating up to 15,000 additional jobs by 2029.

From Jamones Aljomar, represented at Vitartis by José Luis Sánchez as vice president, we reinforce our commitment to continue supporting open collaboration and innovation in the regional agri-food sector.
