Martín Berasategui and Aljomar seal their alliance at a successful event in Barcelona

Barcelona, April 18, 2018 – The Aljomar Group celebrated its 25th anniversary last night with a memorable party on the magnificent Mirabé terrace in Barcelona, bringing together more than 250 people, including collaborators, clients, and friends. The celebration is being commemorated this year with various social events. Aljomar's presence at Alimentaria was one of the chosen venues, and on this occasion, the event served especially to solidify the partnership with renowned chef Martín Berasateguí, the brand ambassador tasked with promoting the excellence of Aljomar's acorn-fed Iberian pork and hams and elevating them to the pinnacle of national and international gastronomy.
The event was hosted by the well-known Tele5 news anchor Pepe Ribagorda, who introduced the numerous surprises planned for the evening. The first, as expected, was Berasategui's appearance on stage. He declared himself a loyal consumer of our premium brand, TRIBUTO DON ALFONSO, and highlighted the values that bind him to the Aljomar Family—a friendship and professional relationship that has resulted in the perfect Aljomar-Berasategui pairing.
The chef has created a recipe book using different cuts of Iberian meat from Aljomar
In addition, the new Aljomar Iberian Meat Recipe Book was publicly presented , which includes an excellent selection of Berasategui gastronomic creations, with the brand's products as protagonists, and offers recipes and presentations accessible to everyone, in a simple and affordable way.
At the cocktail reception, attendees were also able to enjoy a tasting of Aljomar Iberian meats and the exquisite JAMON TRIBUTO DON ALFONSO, 2014 vintage, with more than 4 years of curing.
The brand's founder, Alfonso Sánchez Bernal, also took to the stage, visibly moved as he recalled that the brand's 25th anniversary coincided with his 50 years as an entrepreneur in the sector. "My wife and I never imagined when we opened our first store that we would come this far. It thrills us to see that our product can be enjoyed anywhere in the world," he declared.
His son and assistant to the Director José Luis Sánchez, as well as Basilio Grande Rodríguez, commercial director, thanked the more than 300 attendees at the event, who came not only from Spain, but also from a good representation of other markets (Canada, USA, Taiwan…) where the Aljomar product enjoys representation.
The party, set against the wonderful backdrop of the city of Barcelona from Tibidabo, was a resounding success, culminating in a hilarious performance by Catalan comedian Txavi Franquesa , one of the regular performers at the Comedy Club.
More than three decades of artisanal tradition and passion for Iberian pork
The origins of Jamones Aljomar date back to the 1970s, when its founders, Alfonso Sánchez and his wife Carmen Sánchez, started their first business selling Iberian pork products in the Triana neighborhood of Seville. This small shop, called 'La Salmantina', is still open and embodies the essence of Aljomar: its founders' passion for nature and Iberian pork, and their commitment to sharing these products with the world.
Jamones Aljomar, both as a company and as a brand, emerged a few years later (1992), when another of Alfonso Sánchez and Carmen Sánchez's dreams came true: the construction of their own sausage factory in Guijuelo , the birthplace of Iberian ham. Since then, 25 years later, the company has grown to become a leading name in the production and marketing of Iberian products, both nationally and internationally.
Over the years, many significant steps have been taken. Jamones Aljomar owns the Vera Vieja livestock farm , where it raises its own Iberian pigs, and, as a partner, spearheaded the construction of the El Navazo slaughterhouse , which is certified for export to the United States, China, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Singapore, South Africa, Russia, Argentina, Mexico, Peru, Brazil, and other countries.
All these resources have been crucial to the success of their Controlled Production and Processing Cycle. This system allows for internal monitoring and control of the entire production process: from the breeding and feeding of the Iberian pigs (at the Vera Vieja farm) to slaughter (El Navazo slaughterhouse) and processing (factory in Guijuelo), resulting in the consistency of the final product. The cycle includes strict control systems to ensure compliance with health requirements and traceability standards. Therefore, this process translates into the exceptional quality of their acorn-fed Iberian hams, Iberian cured meats, and fresh Iberian pork.
Jamones Aljomar's revenue exceeded €28.5 million last year, placing the company among the top 10 Iberian ham producers in Spain, where it expects to surpass €30 million this year . Its Iberian products are distributed throughout Spain's autonomous communities and in 25 other countries , including the United States, South Africa, Portugal, Sweden, Mexico, Chile, China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, New Zealand, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Hungary, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Denmark, Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Italy, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland.
