VIDEO BLOG: A trip full of surprises in Aljomar

The year at Jamones Aljomar began, as is tradition, with a trip and a long day full of surprises. Since we're in full swing with the Christmas campaign in December, we held our company lunch at the end of January. Well, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner, and after-dinner drinks... So, on January 27th, Aljomar's management had planned a very special celebration for us. Eager to have a good time, we left Guijuelo at midday, bound for Segovia. Forty factory workers, ready to give it their all. A trip that offered plenty of opportunities... The aqueduct greeted us with perfect sunshine, so we took a stroll around the monument, snapped a group photo, and then got down to business: lunch! Another gastronomic treasure 'made in Segovia' awaited us: the authentic roast suckling pig from the José María restaurant, a jewel of Spanish gastronomy, accompanied by their excellent 'Pago de Carraovejas' wine. Spectacular! The meal went on for a while, but that's what happens when you feel at home. Thanks to José María and his entire team for their hospitality and dedication. But our journey had to continue. Next stop: MADRID. This was just the beginning. In true Saturday Night Fever style, a dinner show awaited us at the Teatro Calderón in Madrid, which we practically "closed" for the occasion: The Hole Zero. Circus, music, and humor in a very different way. Set in the disco parties of the legendary Studio 54 in the late 70s and 80s, specifically on New Year's Eve 1979. But before enjoying the show, the most special moment arrived. A surprise for the founder of Jamones Aljomar, Mr. Alfonso Sánchez, who was turning 69... 49 of them dedicated to the world of ham. He arrived at the theater under false pretenses and had no idea he was about to be the star of the most emotional moment. All the factory workers, as well as the founder's family, sang "Happy Birthday" to him, with the support of the entire artistic company of The Hole. Pure emotion... And that wasn't the only surprise Aljomar's management had in store. During the show's intermission, other employees were honored by their colleagues for their years of dedication, some with no less than 25 years of service to the company. The surprise wasn't just the plaque or public recognition; they even had an unexpected visit from their families, who were brought from Guijuelo to witness the moment. Just one more episode in the series of public recognitions that Aljomar employees will receive throughout 2017, according to the company... but that's another story, which we'll share with the events that await us in the coming months. Let's keep the party going, because the night is long! And it certainly delivered: humor, glitter, lots of fun, and very little clothing... yes, very little clothing. In fact, none at all. You know how people are capable of anything to get their hands on an Aljomar Iberian ham, right? As dawn approached, our batteries nearly dead, we headed back to the bus for Guijuelo after a long day of festivities... one of those days that will go down in history. Just another chapter that perfectly encapsulates what Aljomar is: a family. ALJOMAR GREYSCALE logo
