This week we attended the 9th Regional Congress of Family Businesses. This year's theme, 'The Heartbeat of Castile and León,' highlights the importance of family businesses within the business landscape of Castile and León, making them the heart of the economy and the driving force behind its development.
José Luis Sánchez, Deputy Director of Jamones Aljomar and a member of the Family Business Association of Castile and León (EFCL), will attend this event along with a diverse group of other companies from the region. Together, they share "a commitment to working for the benefit of the entire community, always looking towards the future," and together they aim to "show society all the values that characterize these types of companies." This is the objective of the 9th Regional Congress of Family Businesses, which will be held on June 8th and 9th in San Bernardo (Valladolid).
The data confirms the importance of EFCL, as over 90% of businesses in the region are family-owned , generating nearly 73% of private sector employment and 66% of the regional GDP. These figures undoubtedly highlight their contribution to job creation and wealth generation in their community, and their commitment to continuing to collaborate as a civil society in building a better society, despite all the difficulties and obstacles.

During the two days of the congress, prominent speakers will present and analyze the current economic situation and how different issues of great interest to the future of these companies, such as artificial intelligence, entrepreneurship, and generational change, influence it.
We will be sharing time with internationally renowned experts such as the presidents of Gestamp, Francisco Riberas ; Aciturri, Ginés Clemente ; and Cascajares, Alfonso Jiménez ; the vice president of Prim, Jorge Prim ; and the founders of Hawkers and Tipsa, Pedro Beneyto and María Luisa Camacho . Among the presentations, the speeches by Ambassador Jorge Dezcallar and the lectures by the prestigious psychiatrist Marian Rojas and former professional footballer Juan Carlos Unzué— who suffers from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS)—are also noteworthy.
This business event brings together a broad representation from the regional and national economic and political sphere, is sponsored by Caixabank and E&Y, and also has the collaboration of Iberdrola, VidaCaixa and Securitas Direct.
