
Vera Vieja Farm, a subsidiary of the Aljomar Group and the starting point for the production and processing of its Iberian products , has just joined the Extremadura Association of Family Businesses ( AEEF ), which is holding its 2nd Regional Congress today, Wednesday, April 20th, in Badajoz. Representing Vera Vieja at the event will be its founders, Alfonso Sánchez and Carmen Sánchez, and José Luis Sánchez, Deputy Director of the Aljomar Group.
The Extremadura Association of Family Businesses aims to contribute to the continuity and strengthening of family businesses in the region. The organization comprises 350 leading companies in their respective sectors . These companies represent 20% of the regional GDP, with a combined turnover of €3.1 billion and employing 20,000 people.
The celebration of this regional congress serves as an annual meeting point for family businesses in Extremadura and “allows participants to learn about different professional perspectives from both within and outside the region, showcasing successful strategies for addressing the daily challenges of their management.” It will also be a forum “to interact, exchange opinions, give a platform to the talent of new generations, and develop projects that foster the business growth of the attendees.”
The Vera Vieja natural grain factory is the company responsible for the Animal Production area of the Aljomar Group. It is located in Retamal de Llerena (Badajoz), on the Las Cumbres estate, where 3,500 Iberian sows live and Aljomar Iberian pigs are raised free-range on a 100% natural diet .

In Vera Vieja, the controlled production cycle for Aljomar Iberian hams and cured meats begins . The livestock operation has developed intensively in recent years, not only ensuring a reliable supply of Aljomar hams but also offering increasingly higher quality guarantees regarding the consistency of the final product produced at the Guijuelo factory. Furthermore, the living conditions of the pigs are guaranteed by the Welfair Animal Welfare certification.
