The Aljomar Group has taken a key step towards its strategic goal of achieving sustainable operations, committed to the environment and nature conservation. The commissioning of a new self-consumption solar installation on the roof of its factory in Guijuelo (Salamanca) complements the existing system at its Vera Vieja Agricultural Farm (Badajoz). The combined nominal power of both photovoltaic plants is 450 kW, and together they will generate more than 820 kWh per year.
The 858 solar panels installed on the roofs of the Aljomar factory are divided into 558 modules of 460W and 300 of 385W. Aljomar's new self-consumption energy installation has a maximum power of 372 kWp, a nominal power of 300 kW, and is expected to generate more than 510,000 kWh per year.
Aljomar's commitment to clean energy has long been a reality at its Vera Vieja Agricultural Estate (Retamal de Llerena, Badajoz), a subsidiary of the Aljomar Group and the starting point for the production and processing cycle of its Iberian products. The Vera Vieja solar installation has a nominal power of 150 kW and the capacity to produce approximately 315,000 kWh annually.
The solar energy generated in Vera Vieja results in CO2 emission savings of 135 tons per year. This figure will now increase with the commissioning of the new self-consumption solar park in Guijuelo, which will also achieve a reduction in CO2 emissions of 221 tons annually. Aljomar thus achieves a total CO2 emission savings of over 350 tons per year.
With this important clean and renewable energy project, Grupo Aljomar plans to cover 30% of the needs of the production process in the factory of Iberian hams and sausages and of animal production.
