We have great news!! Aljomar's 100% Iberian acorn-fed ham has been awarded the prize for best Iberian ham in Spain in 2022 at the Alimentos de España awards, organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food , the results of which have been announced recently.
Aljomar's 'black label' achieves the highest score in a rigorous blind tasting developed by tasters from the Institute of Agrifood Research and Technology (IRTA), as well as specialists from the sector convened by the Ministry; taking into account in this sensory tasting both the shape and aesthetics of the piece, as well as its aroma, texture and flavor.
This prestigious award recognizes excellence in the production of Spain's flagship product and highlights the exceptional quality that the Aljomar family has maintained for 30 years, meticulously attending to every detail throughout their controlled production cycle: from the selection and raising of Iberian pigs, through their carefully managed diet in the Dehesa (pastureland), and a painstaking curing process in Guijuelo. All of this is backed by the Welfair certification, which guarantees the animal welfare of all their livestock.
The result? The best 100% Iberian acorn-fed ham in Spain; according to experts.

Aljomar's 'Pata Negra'
Aljoma's 100% Iberian acorn-fed ham comes from animals raised free-range on our farms under the Wellfair Animal Welfare certification, fed exclusively on acorns and natural resources from the dehesa, which give the product its unique flavor, texture and aroma, now recognized by the jury as the best Iberian ham in Spain.
This product comes from 100% Iberian pigs, meaning the parents of the Iberian pig were also 100% Iberian, resulting in a purebred animal, commonly known as "Pata Negra".
