Jamones Aljomar has obtained IFS Food v.6.1 (International Feature Standard) certification this month, guaranteeing the safety, legality, and quality of all the company's production processes. Aljomar's Quality Department had set this achievement as one of its primary objectives for 2021 and recently received notification from AENOR certifying that it has exceeded all the required criteria with the highest possible score (highest level).
Achieving IFS Food certification at Aljomar required adapting the company's existing quality management system to the standard's requirements and adapting various facilities.
The scope of the certificate includes the preparation, curing and slicing of cured meat products and salted meat products derived from pork.
The IFS standard therefore certifies the supply of safe products in accordance with their specifications and compliant with legislation, which undoubtedly results in a reduction of costs for manufacturers and distributors, and reinforces transparency and rigor throughout the supply chain.
As José Luis Sánchez, Deputy Director of Grupo Aljomar, explains, this new certification was obtained thanks to “a great organizational effort by the Aljomar team and especially by our Quality department. It is an international quality standard that helps us improve as producers in the Iberian market and generates even more confidence among today's demanding customers.”
Among the benefits that the certifying body AENOR grants to this protocol are, among others, that it facilitates compliance with applicable legislation, reduces the costs of possible errors in any production chain, provides organized communication with all interested parties, improves documentation, and provides confidence to consumers.
It also highlights that its implementation allows for more efficient and dynamic control of food safety risks, by integrating with quality control or conducting audits together with other Food Safety schemes (BRC, GlobalGAP).
