Having vacuum-packed sliced ham or cured meats at home is a fantastic option. It allows you to treat yourself at any time, prepare an impromptu appetizer for unexpected guests, or enjoy a delicious snack that's easy to carry in your backpack, beach bag, or suitcase when you travel.
We're going to share some tips and tricks to help you fully enjoy and consume it comfortably, savoring its aromas and flavors. So, here are 7 tips to get the most out of your vacuum-packed Iberian ham and cured meats :
- 1. Store them in a cool place without sudden temperature changes until you are ready to eat them. If you don't have a suitable pantry, basement or cellar, put them in the refrigerator, but make sure the temperature doesn't drop below 7-8 degrees.
- 2. If you don't eat them all at once after opening them… which won't be the case, seal them as well as possible, wrapped in plastic, and keep them refrigerated.
- 3. Well-packaged, unopened sachets, stored without sudden temperature changes, can last up to 3 months without deterioration.
- 4. If you have stored the sachets in the refrigerator, take them out at least half an hour before consuming so that they come to room temperature and you can separate the slices more easily.
- 5. If you're caught short and haven't been able to take the sachets out of the fridge in time, here's a little trick: Place them for a few minutes, unopened of course, under a stream of lukewarm water to bring them to temperature before opening them.
- 6. Open the sachet a little while before taking a bite and let it air out, and if you place it on a plate, even better!
- 7. Ideally, it should be consumed at a temperature between 18-23 degrees.
